Another Westminster…

I watched the first four groups last night.  I don’t get fired up until the second night and the Terrier group though.

You better believe I will be cheering the Bull Terriers on again this year.  I’d always wanted to be there if only to show in the breed.  Malcolm would’ve loved it, but Gavin, not so much.  He hates shows, crowds of people, and noise.

Hard to believe it, but even more snow is falling.

     NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Yes, cabin fever.  I want to go out, but there’s nowhere I really need to go and people drive like idiots in this weather.  I love my van too much to risk it for a get out of the house jaunt.

Couldn’t believe the car I heard go down the street last night.  No one should drive that fast on ice and snow.

Oh, now it is snow and sleet. I think it is time for a chocolate martini.  Anything to help deal with cabin fever, The Curmudgeon, and two whacked out dogs.

Superbowl? Nope. Books!

Nope, I didn’t watch the football game.  I read two books.  When I get the chance to read without The Curmudgeon yapping at me I can actually zip through two books in a day.

Getting that opportunity is a rare thing.  I take full advantage of it when I do get it.

One large paperback and a heavy-duty hard cover book later, I am a happy camper.

Happy year of the horse!

C0312865I was born in the year of the horse and here it is again.  Does this mean that this might be my year?  Wouldn’t that be grand?

I only ask because…

“What do you want for dinner?”  This is a question asked when one is at the end of one’s rope and out of ideas.

“I dunno.”  Is the typical answer received.

When I get that answer I begin to cook whatever comes to hand.  Some concoctions are almost inedible while some aren’t bad.  A few have become favorites.

     “Ew, what are you cooking?”

     “I dunno.  Dinner?”

     “What’s in it?”

     “You don’t care, remember?”

“Oh.”  Long pause. “We could have ordered pizza.”

“Too late now, you’re eating what I’m making.”

This is a first!  They’ve never snuggled like this before.

Salted and battery?

This is the second time my van wouldn’t start in the bitter cold.  I think I need a better battery.  Heck, I don’t start well in this cold.  I need several cups …er pots of coffee to get me going.

At least the driveway and sidewalk are clear and salted.  Thank you Arlene.  When I get up in the daylight, I’ll try to clear off the van and see about starting it again.

That’s enough winter thank you very much.

You all have a good one and keep warm!

Every day is new throw of the dice.

Over the next several weeks I will be experimenting with my writing in hopes to hit a new groove and get my books finished.  So be prepared for some nonsense and, I hope, fun.

I have been in such a horrible brain freeze for almost a year now, and that frightens me.  I don’t know if it’s my medications or just the stress of daily life here at Casa Doggonedmysteries.

Stress like today.  I hear The Curmudgeon’s voice come over the phone which wakes me with a jolt.  Then, with heart pounding and adrenalin taking a quick jog though my system, I dashed to downstairs to find him on the kitchen floor.  I couldn’t get him up.

Once I made him comfortable, I dashed back upstairs to get dressed, and then ran over to get the neighbor to help.  He got The Curmudgeon up and to his chair.  We haven’t had a day like this since he started the new medication.  I hope this is an aberration.

Later, he was able to go upstairs and climb into bed for a long rest.  After midnight, he came back downstairs and seemed much improved.  Let’s hope the improvement continues.

You all have a good one.

Old memories.

I remember the time my Dad broke his leg.  An enthusiastic airman had waxed the heck out of the chapel floor and Dad happened to unknowingly stride on the glass like surface.  From the telling of it, it seems that Dad went for quite a sail.

Laid up in bed for a time, he was a great source of amusement for his daughters.  We’d never had him home all day every day.  Heck, there were times he’d be gone for weeks, traveling off to some exotic place from where he’d bring us each a doll.   (I’ll never see them again.)

We got to read to him for a change.  I’m sure he was very happy when his leg healed and he could escape back into the real word.

Pouring rain and dogs…

Not a good mix, at least around here.  The Curmudgeon had a rough time shoving them outside in the morning.  Neither one wanted to brave the very wet outdoors.  Bull Terriers think they might melt in the rain.  It’s easier to get them out in a blizzard.

When I got up, they were down for their naps.  Every day without fail they insist on their naps…well, at least Gavin does.  He will scream at you until you close his crate door and cover him.

They were slow getting up from their naps too.  Could it be because it was still pouring and they knew they’d have to go out again?  You betcha!

HPIM3469Get up and go out?  Nope.

The high yesterday was 21…

Which is where it is now.    Wow, we’re having a heat wave!

I think I’ll hibernate until spring.  I hate this weather.  You all have a good one.  I think I’ll build a snowman…
