Don’t let them kid you…It never gets easier

Gavin the old dog has had two bad nights. I’m hoping he does better tonight.

The Curmudgeon had a very bad day, then yesterday was better, I’m hoping today is also good.

I look around at all the dirt and grime and wish I had the energy to clean this damned house or a crew to get it done for me so all I have to do is keep it up afterwards.

It’s all gotten too far ahead of me.

The more I see it, the more depressed I get.

The more depressed I get, the less energy I have to do it.

Most days these days, I just say fuck it.

Some days you just feel like hiding…or look out your introvert is showing

Does everyone have days where they’d rather be completely alone all day or better yet, for a few days?

Or is that just me?

I crave it like some crave sweets.

I can’t help it, the constant demands on me have turned me into quite the antisocial person.

But, then again, I do enjoy going out and having fun with my friends.

I guess I am an extroverted introvert or is that an introverted extrovert?

Old dogs break our hearts

Watching Gavin grow old is hard.

Poor dog still bounces around on his good days.

But he sure does wobble and stumble on his bad ones.

Clearly today was a bad one.

He’s still game though.0805161616

Fightin’ words!

Gentlemen,
Never tell your wife, “Wow, you sure are getting grey.” if you are the cause of every grey hair on her head.

You might not survive.

Sometimes he forgets that I write murder mysteries. Not smart.

So I spent the night watching a marathon…

A TV marathon of Dead Like Me. I can’t resist a show with Mandy Patinkin in it and that show is good fun.

I found it on Comet Network… I have no idea from where Comet Network arrived on our roster of network favorites, but there it sits.

Hope you all find a treat of some sort to make your day. I know this made mine.

What do you collect?

I have three collections.

  1. Bull Terrier figurines and things. Putting this collection on hold. I have far too many and sort of getting rid of some.
  2. Tee shirts. One can never have too many.
  3. And finally Gargoyles, mine range in size from tiny to an outdoor six-foot tall torch holder.

I added a new Gargoyle the other day.

I didn’t mean YOU when I said bite me!

Spent the day being pestered by a mosquito determined to give me a record number of bites in one day.

Not to mention flying in my face at odd times doing landings and take offs. Then there were the flits between my eyes and my glasses.

If ever I wanted a mosquito (or probably more, all the bites and pestering couldn’t have come from only one.) dead.

I wanted this one (or those) very dead.

Nice weather we have here…

It’s so nice to have the weather cool enough to turn of the air conditioners and open the house.

The last few nights were almost cold. Great sleeping weather!

It has both dogs acting feisty and more ornery than normal. Crazy critters. They both bug The Curmudgeon to get him to play. It’s good for him and for them.

It’s a darned shame that hurricane Hermine is heading our way to wreck it.weekend goal

2 down…

We caught another squirrel today. Took him on drive to the country.

Didn’t another squirrel wander through the yard shortly after returning home.

Time to re-set the trap.

First one I caught with pineapple scraps, second one with peanut butter on bread. I think the peanut butter will be the first choice in bait for us.

One squirrel less

Trap worked and we relocated one squirrel.

Hope he enjoys his new home…

Squirrel with bagpipes

Time for the squirrels to leave.

We’ve set humane traps and hope to catch and move out the entire population before winter.

They ate all my tomatoes and most of my eggplants this year. They even ate the little avocado plant I’d started from a pit.

I do not want to contend with them again next season.

I want to enjoy fresh vegetables from my garden and not pay the prices at the super market.

So, buh bye tree rats. Your chariot to another neighborhood has arrived.
