Bad day in blood pressure town
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Blood pressure on 12/5/15 is 148/71.
He started the day scaring the crap out of me when I found him on the floor of the bathroom. Speech slurred…etc. I came very close to calling for an ambulance again. But he protested mightily.
Got my sweet, sweet neighbors to get him up and back into his bed.
Spent the rest of the day running upstairs checking on him and asking him if he thought maybe it was a good idea to go back to the hospital. His hostility evident, I backed down and let him sleep until the next time I checked on him.
If he doesn’t want help what else am I supposed to do?
Inhale….exhale….look at beach pictures…

126/74 and rising
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Blood pressure 9:47 p.m. 12/4/2015 is 126/74. Am I surprised?
Nope. He will be the death of me.
He does his damnedest to push all my buttons.
I love him but I found that while he was in the hospital I actually got some rest, felt no pressure, and didn’t have to resort to the word “fuck” even once. In one day (yesterday) I lost count of how many times I used it.
I love him but I have come to realize that may not be enough. He puts me in a pressure cooker sending my nerves into overdrive.
A lottery win might be all that stands between me and an early grave.

Well, The Curmudgeon is home
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I think he may be getting around better now than he was before he went into the hospital.
Lucy spent a lot of time on his lap after he got a chance to sit down. She even coaxed him into stretching out on the couch for a bit just before dinner.
Gavin also got his happy welcome home Dad tail wags and sloppy greetings. However, he was more interested in the new smells on his Daddy’s bags than he was in his Daddy.
The Curmudgeon enjoyed his bean soup dinner, one of his favorites. Topped it off with mince-pie and he was in hog heaven.
10:50 12/3/2015 blood pressure 110/70, and this is just the first day.

The day before he gets home
Posted by doggonedmysteries
12/2/2015 8:30 p.m. blood pressure is 116/64.
Rain all day. It rained hard enough that the dogs were not as willing to go out as they were in yesterday’s. Poor babies.
Made ham and bean soup for The Curmudgeon’s first dinner at home. One of his favorites. It’s cooled and ready for the fridge.
I used a ham hock from our farmers market. A heavily smoked, huge, ham hock that had the dogs going ape shit over the fragrance.
You all have a good one.

Stress? Let’s watch my blood pressure this week.
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Spending the last few days catching my breath in preparation for The Curmudgeon’s return home. I know that once he’s home again I’ll not get a moment of rest.
I doubt he knows how demanding he is or that he is the reason for my high blood pressure.
We can play the blood pressure game, starting yesterday to one week from yesterday.
My blood pressure 10:30 p.m. 12/1/15 was 124/66.
Not bad after running out to Good Shepherd and having two close calls driving in the rain. Both close calls caused by idiots talking on their phones while driving. Cell phones are hazards! Put the phones away, so what if you might miss a call or two, it is not worth risking your life and the lives of others.

Getting things ready for him to come home
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I made a grocery store run and loaded up on things for The Curmudgeon. He loves various frozen breakfast items he can make for himself and the freezer is now fully stocked for him.
Since he’s lost so much weight and needs to put some back on, I bought pudding cups for him to try. I also have some high calorie, flavorful, easy for him to eat, meals planned.
Those days I’ll eat something else. I seriously do not need the extra calories.
He’s coming home Thursday so I don’t have a ton of time to get things in order.
Didz you sez Daddy iz comingz home?!

Quiet Sunday
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The pups and I had a quiet Sunday. As they slept all day, I washed all their bedding, vacuumed the downstairs, and caught up on a few other chores.
The house is still not clean. I doubt it will ever be clean. I have two dogs, a husband who is a slob when he’s home, and an old house that seems to generate dirt from nowhere.
Flirty old fart

Took some clean clothes over to The Curmudgeon yesterday. Found him in the cafeteria just finishing lunch. Of course the man was seated at a table with two women…the flirty old fart. Always the charmer, him.
He was looking so much better than he was when all this crap started. It’s hard to believe we came so close to losing him mere weeks ago.
Look who is waiting for him to get home.

Gimme some pie
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I pounded a turkey breast cutlet flat, seasoned and breaded it, and fried it in coconut oil. With it I had couscous with saffron, garlic, and peppers.
Yep, that was my thanksgiving dinner. Mine was better than what The Curmudgeon had at the rehab. He has to have all of his food minced now making most of it unrecognizable. However, he did get pumpkin pie.
The only thing I had a mad craving for was pie. All. The. Pies. I want pecan and pumpkin and mincemeat, and apple…I want allthepies!!!

Happy to stay home
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Traffic around here is always a bitch but on holidays it’s worse.
Although, the other day had to take the cake on bad traffic. G and I were heading out to the farmers market when at 15th and Liberty streets we stopped on Liberty street for the light. There were two vehicles in front of us. The light turned green and the first one went across the intersection.
The second car’s driver seemed momentarily distracted and sat there a bit before pulling out. I was just stepping on the gas when another car came flying down 15th, ran the light, and almost hit the vehicle in front of us. Only missed hitting it because of the quick thinking of the driver of the car in front of us who was able to get out-of-the-way with some very smart maneuvering.
Our hearts were pounding because we SAW how close it was to being a serious accident with fatalities–mere inches.
Also, had the driver in front of us gone right through the light behind the first vehicle we would’ve been hit by the speeding red light running car. Yep, our hearts were still pounding when we got to the market.
First stop was the Clover Hill Winery shop for a taste and two bottles to take home.
You all have a good Thanksgiving!

Off schedule is out of kilter
Posted by doggonedmysteries
It seems that The Curmudgeon is falling into the routines at the rehab hospital so well that he gets a bit peeved when one of the therapies throws another one off schedule.
I’ve been down with a creeping crud and dare not take it out there with so many compromised patients. So he’s taken to calling me twice a day.
He gives me the low down on which nurse is driving him bonkers and who has visited or called him. He has his cell phone with him. Therefore, if any of his friends are reading this–you can call him on it. If he’s in therapy, he’ll call you back.
If there are no set backs and things continue to go smoothly, he may be home a week from Thursday.
