We love these pups

Lucy and Gavin are still not out together all the time, we hope they will be one day. She gets a bit maniacal with him and that’s when he goes to his crate and gives me ‘the look’. He’s so sweet and takes her energy and abuse very well.

However, she exhausts him and once he’s in his crate it doesn’t take long for him to start snoring.

What a pair. I had them out in the yard together today and it’s a good thing I kept her on a leash. I think she would have thudded into him hard enough to break him.

Once he went inside, I let her loose and she bounded about the yard like a small, white deer.

In the meantime, The Curmudgeon said Gavin went directly to his crate and barked to have the door closed. He’s a nut.

HPIM3766This is the look you get right before he barks at you to close his door.

Whoohoo!

We had an absolutely scrumptious day yesterday! 72 degrees for the high and dropping down to 60 degrees over night. Couldn’t ask for nicer weather.

If only The Curmudgeon’s spine fractures weren’t so damned painful for him, I’m sure he’d be a lot happier. I miss the happy part of him.

Lucy was hell on wheels all day living up to her nickname of Lucifurry. Gavin had a ton of energy. However, once I sent them both to bed, all I’ve heard from the crates are snores.

I do wish I hadn’t spent the day doing indoor projects that needed doing because I could have done a lot outside. The fact that it looked as though it would rain any minute all day was all that kept me indoors.

Today looks about the same temperature wise. Time to drag out the recycling barrels and my clippers.

You all have a good one!

Lovely day

Hurrah, cooler weather! Just what The Curmudgeon needs to feel a bit better after several days of hot and humid misery.

We hit a high of 78 and a low of 63. Perfect.

Although his spinal injury on top of his MS does make walking around difficult, the cool drier air makes a big difference in how he feels in general.

I like that I can wear my overalls in comfort again. I can work in the yard and the mosquitoes can’t get at my skin so easily.

The pups love the cooler weather too. It even makes 12 year-old Gavin perky and energetic.

It was YUMMY!!!

Delicious!

The Curmudgeon loved it…

You all have a good one!

Yummy…I hope

Yesterday G and I went to the farmers market. At one stand, I found a lovely chicken and had them split it for me.

Last night I brined it and put it in the refrigerator over night.

It is now on the grill with the smoker box going and we will eat around 6 tonight. Yum.

You all have a good one!

So sick of cooking

What I wouldn’t give to have a private chef for a month or two just so I can have a break from cooking meals. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way.

These days I can’t even think of what to make for dinner. I open the freezer, stare at the contents, and draw a complete blank as to what to make.

Maybe when the weather cools off I’ll feel more like cooking nice meals. As it is, The Curmudgeon is lucky he gets something different each day.

Once the weather gets cooler...Lasagna!!!

Mash up

Found out that Verizon is working in our area and that is why our internet connection has been so effed up lately. So far our TV is fine whereas G’s is not. We’re half a block apart for heaven’s sake.

I was in trouble with the pups yesterday. We were out of dog cookies! G and I went to one of our nearby pet stores to stock up and then I took her out to lunch.

If I miss a post or two in the coming weeks, don’t worry just blame Verizon.

You all have a good one!

HPIM3959WTF?! No cookies??!!!

Moved the yard sale date…

We’re pushing the yard sale forward a week. I don’t like the idea of being outside in extreme heat and thunderstorms.

I need to polish (or not) the adjustable brass floor lamp before then. It should sell better all nice and polished. However, I am basically lazy so we’ll see.

Some Halloween props need to make the trip down from the attic. Yes, I am selling some of my older ones. Anyone interested?

I’ll need to pump up the tires, start-up the riding mower, and back it out of the shed. Once it sells I can store my garden tools more efficiently.

Big web builder

104_2095We have a new orb spider. (This is a picture I took of one a couple of years ago.) Our new one has decided to build her web every night from our porch roof to the wall between our porch and the neighbor’s. It’s a big web and we are being very careful of it. I told her she can stay there undisturbed as long as she doesn’t come inside my house.

What I love is orbs tend to take up most of their web during the day and rebuild it each evening. Thus, the mailman doesn’t walk into her web every day when he steps over the wall.

You all have a good one!

Another day…

Whew! AC is back on. Too hot and humid for The Curmudgeon. Looking at the next several days of forecasts it seems we’ll be keeping it on for a while too.

For as bad as his back is The Curmudgeon was in better spirits yesterday. I’m hoping a visit from one of his PD dispatchers will brighten his day today. She’s stopping by for some plants.

That reminds me, I’d better set my alarm. 😉

Updates on The Curmudgeon

A lovely 64 degrees at a little past midnight. I do love cool nights they make for good sleeping.

Someone please explain how I pulled a stomach muscle yesterday. It has a lot to do with owning two bull terriers. 😀

A dinner of beer battered codfish, fried to a perfect golden brown, and served with french fries, made The Curmudgeon very happy.

He needs some happy, the neurosurgeon said there is nothing they can do for him. The damage is too bad and whatever they did would only make it worse.

I’ve been worried about him, he’s been looking rather thin. I was right, he  told me that they weighed him at the neurosurgeon’s office and he is the lightest he’s ever been since before I met him back in 1971. This is not a good thing him being underweight. I wish it were me taking off the pounds. He can’t afford to.

I don’t know what we’re going to do now. He’s in constant pain and his pain medications are not giving him much relief. He’s falling into another deep depression, I’m thinking they’ll need to adjust his antidepressants.

I appeal to his friends to please come see him, he needs to have his mind taken off his pain and company is a wonderful distraction for him.

Home from the fair

Forgot my camera, no big deal, it looks the same as last year.  As we were leaving to go The Curmudgeon handed me a nice sum of money and told me to get him a T-shirt anything over what that cost was mine to spend as I wanted.

G and I walked out to the fair and wandered all through it. We even went into the livestock barns.

In the entire fair we found only two stands that sold T-shirts. One had crap but at the other one we found him a Dragon T we knew he’d love.

Then I found a silver skully ring I liked. After which G and I had an early dinner of lobster rolls and lemonade. I bought The Curmudgeon a cheese steak–he mention a few nights ago that it had been quite a while since he had one.

When I got home, I told him he bought me a real nice ring. He looked at it and said, “I have good taste.”

To which I replied, “Yes, you do.”

He loved his T-shirt and cheese steak sandwich.
