Remember the leaky roof?

Well, we got the estimate to strip the ancient slate roof off the house and replace it with shingles. No way can we afford to redo it with slate and the other half of this twin has shingles. So don’t go telling me I should use slates. Yep, I’m gearing up to fight the historic district on this one.

As it is, we will now have two loans to pay off. The one for the shower we had to put in so The Curmudgeon could bathe safely and now for the roof. Don’t get me started on the crumbling front porch or the yard. Those expenses will come in when the two loans go away. We’ll have to refinance for the porch work.

Life in the money pit never gets easier.

Yes, there will be June yard sale so we can defray some of the roof loan. I’m hoping the antique dishes and collectibles will bring in enough to help us out there. I plan to take the MIL’s jewelry to a local jeweler to sell. I don’t wear a lot of jewelry and her taste was nothing close to mine. Might as well use it to pay off what we can. I think the only piece that I’ll hang on to is his great grandmother’s ring, I love it.

To top it all off, we got snow. Effing SNOW!

Stop snowing

Nooooooooooooooo! More snooooooow!

Thank goodness, even though it snowed all afternoon and is still snowing…this is all we got.

We want warm weather

HPIM3584     It still isn’t warm enough to melt away much of the darned white stuff on the ground. We can’t call it snow because it’s more like ice. Barely hitting 40 by afternoon and then dropping to 20 degrees as soon as the sun goes down doesn’t work the greatest.

I did manage to break through the six-inch deep ice on the sidewalk out back and cleared a single square foot’s worth of cement in hopes that it will help melt the rest off faster.  We have two small spots of visible ground, one along the side of the house and another out by what’s left of the pond.

Supposed to hit 47 degrees today, let’s hope it melts off more of the white stuff.

You all have a good one!

Sneaking this in, hoping Mother Nature doesn’t take notice

We got off lucky on Sunday with only a dusting of snow.  (Saying that very quietly.)  When it was snowing hard and, thankfully, not sticking much, I took the dogs out.  Never have I seen such a disgusted look on two dogs.

It’s true, not only are the people going crazy this winter but the pets are too.  I’m hoping that today’s forecast of snow also hits the skids as yesterday’s did.  We still have feet of the white stuff in the yard which has turned into hard, icy, pad cutting snow.  We need it to thaw and go away.

I so crave green plants, warm sun, and flowers. You all have a good one!

I heard that dirty word again…

Oh no!  Say it isn’t so!  More effing snow on the way.

Fun? Not yet.

HPIM3583     I pity the pups. They are as sick of the snow-covered ground as we are.  Neither one wants to go outside for more than a minute or two.

Looks like we’re supposed to get snow today and Friday night.  Here’s the forecast for today.

WE ARE EXPECTING A LIGHT SNOWFALL EVENT TO OCCUR COINCIDENT WITH THE MORNING COMMUTE TOMORROW. GENERALLY AROUND AN INCH SHOULD FALL ACROSS THE NON-ADVISORY AREAS AND COULD GREATLY IMPACT THE MORNING COMMUTE AS THE SNOW WILL BEGIN TO STICK INSTANTLY TO ALL UNTREATED SURFACES. THE SNOW SHOULD END RELATIVELY QUICKLY FROM WEST TO EAST LATE TOMORROW MORNING.

IF YOU WILL BE DRIVING TOMORROW MORNING, BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY CONDITIONS AND REDUCED VISIBILITY. BE SURE TO LEAVE PLENTY OF ROOM BETWEEN YOUR VEHICLE AND THE ONE AHEAD OF YOU.

Oh fun…NOT.

Uneffing believable…more effing snow.

I think I’ll quit reading weather forecasts and stay ignorant of what is to come.  Tonight the forecast is snow and 27 degrees.  Monday a high of 32 degrees followed by more snow and colder on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Yeah, I vote that I stop looking at them.  Especially since both skelemingoes are finally visible in the garden under the tulip poplar.

HPIM3660Here’s one today.

HPIM3641Here’s the same one a few days ago.

The snow is still here…and now we’ve added fog.

Pictures!

Come on March!

Whoohoo, we hit 44 degrees today!  A few more days of this, and we might actually be able to see some of my taller garden plants.  😀

Friday we’re supposed to go as high as 49 degrees and Saturday we should top out at 52. If only it will stay that way for a while. Unfortunately, February will end on low temperatures in the 20’s.

Please March hurry and grace us with your warmth, green beer, and ugh my birthday.

HPIM3641I have two skelemingoes, this is the only one you can see. I wonder how many days until both are fully visible again. Any guesses?

Has anyone seen Spring? Please send her our way.

HPIM3647     Overnight 4 more inches of snow arrived.  Forecast for Wednesday is rain and ice.  Do we look as though we need more crap?

Yes, another ‘weather’ post.

They didn’t get our street cleared of snow yesterday, instead they changed the no parking this street signs to today.  We’ll see what happens.  I for one would not be unhappy to wake to the noise of snowplows on our street.

We’ve sort of kept count and there have been over 20 cars stuck in the snow and ice out front over the last few days.  If you don’t have to, don’t drive down our street!  <Giggle>  I even canceled my dentist appointment because the street is THAT bad.

Listening to another car spinning its tires out front.  Really?  You haven’t heard how bad this street is?
