My brain scares me at times
Posted by doggonedmysteries
We had a very gray and rainy day yesterday so I really didn’t go anywhere or do anything. That is until I stood at my kitchen window and watched a man walk past our yard.
He wasn’t dressed for the weather. He dragged one of those folding two-wheeled grocery carts behind him. When he reached the end of our fence, he stopped, pulled a bag out of the cart, and put it in the dumpster for the apartment building behind us.
It’s my brain that had him as a serial killer putting a bag with a body part in the dumpster. It’s a good thing that I don’t live alone because sometimes I scare myself.
You all have a good one.

The canine alarm clock needs resetting
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Even the Curmudgeon knows better than to wake me before noon. Heck, I go to bed around five a.m. However, the last couple of mornings a certain white dog has taken it upon himself to become my new alarm clock.
Yesterday, he wandered upstairs and flopped outside my bedroom door at eleven. He’s not the sharpest tack in the cork board. He began by sighing loudly, then he rattled the door a few times. When that didn’t work, he sighed again. I knew if I didn’t get up and let him in the whining would begin next.
So there I was curled up in bed with a happy white dog on his back getting his tummy tickled…and people say they are dumb animals.
Elena was up and walking under supervision yesterday–three cheers!
You all have a good one.

Writing while flinging birds
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I admit it I am addicted to Angry Birds. I think I need an intervention because now Facebook has added it and I am playing on there as well as on my two computers.
I find that when I should be writing, I crave a game or two. I think I found a way to write and fling those birds. I have decided to use a reward system. For every hour I write, I will earn five minutes of pig killing bird flinging fun.
It is difficult to write when the brain isn’t working right. However, I am trying.
You all have a good one.

Updates on my friends
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I’d forgotten to mention that G had eye surgery on the tenth and is doing very well. They worked on both of her eyes. Eye surgery tends to make me squeamish so I didn’t ask her for details. I’m just happy she’s recovering well. I plan to take her out to lunch to celebrate her recovery as soon as she feels up to it.
Elena had her triple bypass and from what I’ve been told is doing quite well. She’s still in the ICU but she’s had some visitors.
You all take care and stay well. I don’t want to add to this list. 😀

Update on Elena
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The news so far is good. She made it through the triple bypass surgery and last I heard was in recovery. I’m hoping her recovery and subsequent release from the hospital go quickly.
I’ll be happy to see her back here making comments soon.
You all have a good one and do send good thoughts Elena’s way.

Save us from reality shows
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I watch TV for entertainment purposes. Therefore I do not watch reality shows that make me ill just from watching the danged trailers for them. No I don’t want to see how bad that poor sick person’s house looks. Nor do I want to know about someone’s horrible and weirdly sick addiction.
What people do in the privacy of their homes belongs there and not jumping off my TV screen.
I had enough dealing with a hoarders home when in my reality I had to clear out my MIL’s house. No, I don’t want to compare notes with the TV on whose house was worse. Entertainment? Oh, hell no.
I’m so glad I read and oh, yeah I write too….
You all have a good one. Me, I’m going to turn off the TV and go for a walk.

Why are my electronics revolting?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Have you ever had an electronic device that completely drives you up a wall? Along with my printer I have another one of those now, my Sansa Clip. Actually, I’ve had this problem for a while and did write (scathingly) about it once before. However, I recently bought a teensy memory card for it in the hope that it would solve the problem …NOPE, no such luck.
This has to be one of the most frustrating, aggravating, pieces of crap I’ve ever had. The damned thing still won’t download any music for me. I was so looking forward to having the frigging thing in working condition so I could listen to music while walking. I do so need to start walking again and if I have no one to walk with I want music.
I am just stubborn enough to drive myself completely bonkers with this thing rather than go buy some other MP3 player.
You all have a good one while I either take a hammer to this thing or make it work.

My garden is pushing it…
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I know we’ve had some terrific weather this winter, but my spring flowers are pushing it now. I have daffodils and crocus springing up–hey guys, it’s not spring yet, slow down before the weather kicks your asses.
The weather reports are saying we’re to get snow again on Sunday. We had rain all day today and you know what that means.
Yes, I have mud. I have mud in the yard. I have mud on the back porch. I have mud in the kitchen. I had to wash the cover from the love seat because…Yep, you guessed right, I had mud on it along with elk antler gooey from Patty spending the day chewing there.
There’s muddy paw prints and Curmudgeon shoe prints on the kitchen floor I’ll wait a couple of days for the yard to dry a bit before I mop.
Ah, the elk antlers…Another story there. Yesterday morning the Fed Ex truck driver rang the doorbell and left a box of them between the doors. Gavin and Patty had never had them before so they didn’t really know what was in that box that The Curmudgeon left on my chair.
That soon changed after I came downstairs. They each got an antler. For the rest of the day we heard not a peep from them. They were happy, they were amused, they were chewing for hours! Finally Gavin got tired and insisted it was nap time. As soon as they woke from their naps, they were right back to the antlers. I think they like them. I’m glad I bought two each.
They removed Elena’s tube early yesterday and she’s breathing on her own. Let’s keep cheering her on.
You all have a good one.

OOOPS!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
It was one of those nights where things got away from me. I almost forgot to get in here and post. Yeah, I’m not the brightest light in the harbor at this time. My thoughts are scattered in all sorts of directions.
I wish I could say that Elena was out of the hospital but I can’t. She is still on target to get her breathing tube removed sometime today. Let’s hope that is the beginning of her quick recovery. I do miss her comments in here.
She’d be delighted to hear you all have been rooting for her. Let’s keep it up.
You all take care, keep well, and have a good one.

Another shoe drops
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I was going to blog about the Westminster dog show but then I got an E-mail from my dear friend Elena’s neighbor.
Elena is in the hospital fighting for her life. She had a major heart attack. She was resuscitated and tests showed a blockage that can only be cleared by surgery. She is now in stable, but non-responsive condition with a breathing tube in the ICU. The doctors are waiting for her condition to improve to discuss surgery.
I have a candle burning for her.

Techno I don’t think so!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Yesterday, my friend’s Iphone took exception to her language at it and hung up on her. The nerve of it! If my phone were to do that to me it’d be under a sledge-hammer tout de suite! No mercy no matter how much it begs.
When I say that my computer is the brains of this outfit, I am kidding. At least I hope I am. It’s only hooked to the internet and not to every appliance and light in my house. Imagine if your computer ran your house and got pissed at you? There are countless examples to choose from in books, TV, and movies. Think Hal in your home or better yet, Eureka’s Sarah the house on Sci Fi. No thank you very much.
Most cars come equipped with computers. A very few advancements on those and, well… Will they drive my car next? What if I have an argument with the car? Does that mean that if I want to turn right and the computer thinks that a left turn is all the better to do me in, I hit that wall?
I wonder, are my desk top and lap top computers listening to this? Maybe it’s time I went off the grid….
