In memory of the bravest woman I ever knew

Dearest Baby Sister,

You held laughter in your heart even at the worst of times.  You had a remarkable strength of character and will—the strongest person I’ve ever known.  Even when your pain was at its worst, you took time to ease the pain of others with a hug, a radiant smile, or a joke.  You had a kind soul and an abundance of love to give.  Your love knew no bounds.  You are my hero. I will always love and miss you.

  1. What a moving tribute, simple but it says it all. Cancer is such a filthy disease.

    • It is a filthy disease and she fought it with every fiber of her being until she could no longer fight. She desperately wanted to be there for her three kids, to see them grow up, go to college, marry, and to be able to play with her grandkids. Sadly, she couldn’t.

When I could be with her, I let her cry when she needed to cry. I didn’t mind having a soggy shoulder. I once drove her to a secluded area so she could scream at the unfairness of it all and I screamed with her, we were both hoarse for days afterwards but it sure felt good. We laughed together every chance we had. I talked to her every night when I couldn’t be with her–we lived 2000 miles apart. Most of all, I loved her with all of my heart and still do.

  2. What a wonderful post. Very well said.
