A skunk by any other name still stinks
Mr. Skunk, Mr. Polecat, or (my mother’s favorite name for the darned things), Mr. Sachet Kitty is back.
Somewhere out there he’d let loose and the stench drifted into the house. EW! Dear Hubby and I both jumped up from our chairs, he ran to close the front door (short run of three steps), and I dashed to the back of the house to close the back door. Out came the pet odor deodorizing spray and I lit some incense.
At least Mr. Skunk hadn’t let loose because of our dogs or me being outside. Last time it was too close a call for me. Our only hope is that he moves on—which I doubt will happen, or a car hits him—hopefully on the far side of the neighborhood. I know that sounds nasty but I don’t want him back in my yard again. I have two dogs that have no fear when it comes to chasing a strange critter.
My neighbor’s Standard Poodle would also chase it down. I’m certain she’d not enjoy having a stinky dog leap into her bed. Surprise Mom!
Then there are the two tiny dogs next door the smaller of the two has no fear either. Little Demonica…er Angelica is less than half the skunk’s size but has the temperament of a Doberman when it comes to protecting what’s hers. This includes anything she can see from her yard including my yard, the alley, and the street out front.
Which reminds me, just in case one these dogs meets Mr. Skunk, I’ll have to E-mail a friend of mine for her skunk out formula.

I detest skunks – they regularly skulk around here and if I drive too close the smell stays in my car entirely too long. I’m so thankful EmmaLou has never crossed one. Email your friend quickly because contrary to popular belief, my groomer…no wait – EmmaLou’s groomer tells me tomato juice does not work in taking out the stink. Hugs!
I know the tomato method doesn’t work well. Which reminds me about the time our Siamese tangled with a skunk…OOO, there’s another post!
Mommy says give her a call if the kids get skunked – i catch skunks all the time and mommy has perfected the bully deskunking method

Hmmm, maybe she should send it along and I’ll post it for the folks who read this.
The not so secret remedy is White Vinegar and Baking Soda – you make a paste and put it on – rubbing it in really good and leaving it on for a couple minutes – wash it off and the smell literally gone – in really bad cases i had to repeat a day later cause it was in her pours – but it works great!!
side affect is your bully smells like a salad – but there could be worse thing!!

Better a salad than a skunk. I think my friend’s recipe is similar but I do believe it has Dawn detergent added to it. I sent her an E-mail to ask for it so I can post it here. Hopefully she’ll send it to me.
Mine had the dawn dish detergent in it – but i found it made my delicate princess (aka kill everything) break out 😉
