Misery loves company

Today Dear Hubby is off to the oral surgeon.  I get to go along because I’m his designated driver.  This is going to be fun—NOT.  For one thing, as I stated in an earlier post, dentists are a phobia with him and oral surgeons are worse.  I can sympathize with him since I’ve had four impacted wisdom teeth removed and two others.  However, neither dentist nor oral surgeons bother me.

I do dread the next week or so since men are such babies when they are feeling miserable.  When I had my wisdom teeth out, I spent two whole days being miserable and then cooked meals, cleaned the house, did dishes, and went back to work.  The last time DH had teeth removed he was down and out for at least a week.

All I can say is thank heavens these are the last of his teeth.  I’d be willing to take bets that he’ll be feeling a darned sight better once they are gone than he has in a long while too.

  1. I totally agree about the men being like that when they are in pain or sick. It is like they are at deaths door and the world should stop turning except to take care of them. I think it is because we are women that is just how we are programmed. My ex would get sick with a little cough and he would be out of work for a day or two. Now I get sick I go to school, work, take care of Tooters, the house and find time for whatever else pops up. I do this until I end up at the doctor on a handful of meds to get me back to half way normal.
I am sorry about the upcoming week and if I could help I would be right there.

  2. Twenty minutes! Hopefully that’s a good omen of minimal trauma and quick recovery.

  3. Uh…excuse me! Not all men are that way.
My wife will tell you I need almost zero coddling when I’m sick. I just want to curl up under a blanket with a note pinned to it saying DO NOT DISTURB!
And I can’t remember the last time I took a sick day from work. Mabye 8 – 10 years ago? That was when my ribs on one side were spasming so fiercely, they’d force the air from my lungs explosively.

Hope the DH bounces back fast.

  4. Elena–Looks as though it is so far.

Dave–You are an exceoption among men. I’ve witnessed a Marine DI who whined so much when down with a cold that I wanted to throttle him. Many wives and mothers will attest to the whining of men who you wouldn’t expect to be babies.

Looks as though this time DH is not going to be a baby–YAY!

  5. OMG my prayers are with you!!!!
