Things have a habit of disappearing
Now that the temperature is on the rise, I’m more in the mood to start putting up my porch decorations. I will only put up black garland with orange lights and a few other strings of Halloween inspired lights. The major portion of decorations won’t go up until the day of the 30th, which, for our town, is Trick, or Treat night this year. They come down as soon as the pumpkin strikes eight. They then become the party décor in the house for the rest of the night.
If I lived in an area, where ripping people off wasn’t a blood sport, I would lavishly decorate on October the 1st. However, I don’t. Things have a habit of disappearing and not in a ghostly way. Only the cheap stuff goes out before Trick or Treat night.

I don’t get ppl that steal decorations. I go all out for Christmas and have lots of blow up stuff in my yard. My fence and house get lights too. Last year someone actually stole two whole strings of lights off of my fence and broke some of the lights on the house. If I did not feel the need to keep up with the neighbors and did not love my decorations so much I would not put them up again this year, but Tooters I am sure will talk me into it. Maybe I will follow your lead and wait till closer to Christmas. Have fun with your party and think of me while I am walking for miles in the cold with Tooters lol.
I bet you give out some great treats! Sorry I’m not close. I would love to come a see all your decorations. Sad, that you can put them up and enjoy them. Thanks for the treat…..the pumkin is cool! Never could do that….Billy Bob missed out on that holiday growing up. My decorations were always poor, so no one ever wanted them. I think our house was on the ….They give Sh**ty treats lists!
that is horrible – i decorate oct 1st basically too – and no one touches it – they tend to get shaving creamed on halloween – but nothing gets taken or destroyed

SM–Walking miles in the cold, that’s why I have hot cider, coffee, and wine available for certain T&T parents, is it any wonder we get hordes?
Mari–Last year we handed out 10 1/2 pounds of candy. Oh, crap that reminds me I have to go buy more this week.
MJ–I do wish I could decorate on the first since this is my favorite holiday of the year but what was once a lovely, quiet oasis in the city has been discovered by bad elements in recent years much to our disappointment. If we hit the lottery we’ll move out of here–that’s the only way we could afford to do it.
