Sherlock Holmes movie

If you are a fan of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes, do not walk but run to the theater and get ready for a good movie.  G and I went to it today and we weren’t disappointed.  Now I can’t wait for it to come out in DVD so DH can see it.  He can no longer sit comfortably in a theater.

This Sherlock Holmes is not one of those sanitized Hollywood versions we’ve all seen.  This movie runs closer to the books.  Sherlock Holmes is truer to the character Doyle intended.  If you want Basil Rathbone, don’t go see this movie.  If you’re looking for a foolish, doddering, and fat Dr. Watson, don’t go see this movie.  The movie is gritty, action packed, and definitely not a cozy.

  1. I really enjoyed this movie but was disappointed in the lack of real mystery. I felt that even with the gritty action and the like there should be a little more in the way of deduction rather than running around blindly and stumbling into things. Still, I really enjoyed Jude Law as Watson and that surprised me. I’m glad you enjoyed the movie.

  2. I LOVE Robert Downey Jr. and have been looking forward to this movie! I really want to see it but haven’t had a chance to see it yet since the movie theater is 32 miles one way from us and we haven’t really had a reason to go into Wichita to be worth the drive. Hate to drive that far just to do one thing. We will have to check it out and I’m glad to hear that it was great. 🙂

  3. i have always thought Dr. Watson was on the “heavy” side.

  4. I just got home from the theater to watched this movie and I enjoyed it immensely.

  5. I’m thrilled to hear your positive comments – that has been my impression too. But, I have to wait for the DVD also. Hope it happens soon, but who knows what will happen in the other planet universe of marketing.

This has had so much publicity that I find myself wondering what the spinoffs might be. A Wii activity? A board game? Definitely one hopes for an action doll.
