Does anyone make a coffee maker that won’t pee on my counter?

     I love coffee.  I love drip coffee makers.  However, I have yet to find one that lasts longer than two years.  I take care of them.  I keep them clean.  I follow all instructions.  Nevertheless, before I know it, they become senile and start peeing on the counter.

     In 37 years, I’ve gone through a multitude of coffee makers.  One decided I worked it too hard and in protest shot its on/off switch across the kitchen, nearly hitting G in the head, and then ceased working.  That one was the only one that didn’t hang around long enough to pee on the counter.

     I have owned every name brand coffee maker out there and not one of them has remained housebroken.  I’ve had cheap coffee makers; middle range priced ones, and a couple of expensive ones.

     I’m tired of wiping up puddles on my kitchen counter.  It’s worse than having an 8 week old puppy.  At least as they get older they learn not to wet the floor.

     Do coffeemakers mark their territory?  Do they perhaps have weak bladders?

  1. We have a dual pot model since Hubby drinks coffee and I drink tea and it has lasted quite some time with no problems. We got it from a “Ginny’s” catalog and love it. No frills but it works great.

  2. Two things;

    We buy the $19.99 drippers from WalMart/Target (cheap enough to replace yearly. We make coffee about 5 times a year, so our unit has been around for almost 8 years).

    My Mother has an expensive dripper that she’s had for a decade, or so. However, it goes in for servicing yearly (expensive servicing, crazy-silly, but it grinds, brews and cleans up after itself.) She’d be better off spending the yearly servicing fee on a Starbucks Card, then she’d be about even.

  3. sounds as if the coffeemakers of the world have decided that they will not be slaves & they say let my pots go lol

  4. A dual pot won’t do it for us. We make 2 pots of coffee a day.

    A $19.95 pot lasts us about 3 months if that. I have a coffee bean grinder, so I don’t need to spend a fortune on a coffeemaker that does both. {sigh}

    LOL! Coffeemakers of the world, unite!

  5. for some reason my comment read as anonymous

    I thought maybe it was you but it did come through as anonymous. I’m glad you told me so I could fix it.

  6. lmaooooooooooo I was thinking your pot wasn’t “user friendly” as in, when it’s poured. You have a much bigger problem though and unfortunately, I don’t know of any pots that don’t eventually lose bladder control, hahaha. In fact, my current one makes a mistake now and then. I’d rather have a puppy, they at least give love, lol.

  7. Got to thinkin’ afterwards about my problems with pots that peed on my counter. Seems to me if I rinsed out the basket that holds the coffee at the point where it drips (coffee grinds seem to congregate there even when rinsed well) and I’m talking about forcing the water thru there rather than a simple rinse, that seems to help. If your pot stops dripping when you pour a cup, then holding that little button while you rinse it, helps. Now the next problem…being able to see the coffee grinds against a black background, my eyes just aren’t that good anymore 😦

    Nope that’s not it, mine leaks from the bottom of the coffeemaker every time!

  8. I love coffee we have common problem, but im getting used to it. hehehehehe
