The blizzard of February 2010

Even though the storm hammered us here, south of us had it worse.  I’m so glad I don’t live too near to Philly.

I dug a very short path out into the yard for the pups.  I had to clear the snow.  they couldn’t get off the back porch.  Patty is the more energetic of the two and she went a bit past the end of their path, however, when it came time to squat, she didn’t like the snow hitting her butt.  She retreated to the shoveled area.

Some of the neighbors have already dug their cars out but with the street unplowed, they’ve no place to go.  Early this afternoon when the storm was at its height my next door neighbor was trying to shovel her car out so they could go to the store.

“Are you nuckin’ futs?  You aren’t supposed to be on the roads unless it’s an emergency.”  I said.

     “I need some groceries.”

“Whatever you need, if I have it it’s yours.  Please don’t try to drive in this crap.”

  1. I’ve lived in a number of different places and it’s the same all over. People are just plain nuts if not poor drivers when it comes to driving in snow or even rain, I haven’t decided which one they are. Speeders whiz by like I’m standing still. I’m not standing still, I’m going slower than the posted speed limit so I don’t slide or if it’s raining, hydroplane. It’s just smart driving. I may not be in a hurry to get to where I’m going, but I DO want to get there alive. So all you impatient drivers out there, if you are behind me, get in front where I can see you. And, btw, do NOT bother to honk at me because I will NOT speed up for you. I may just slow down a bit more,

Yes, but at least the people around here know how to drive in snow. I’ve seen less than an inch of snow render a whole southern community helpless.

    • Southern communities havn’t the snowiest idea how to drive in snow, true. But then neither do people from Seattle and thereabouts. I’ve even seen some idiots out driving around in Colorado, in 4X4s. Holy cow! You’d think they were acting like that 4X4 was a snowmobile! I’ve even seen drivers in PA, KS, NE, MA drive like they knew not what they were doing. At least Southerners have an excuse. They get 2 inches of snow in a decade…if that.

  2. seeing those pics. makes me happy not to be in IOWA any more NM has snow but not as much as you have I better watch my mouth SNOW is a 4 letter word lol

Gee thanks Jim. I wonder how many ways I can say Bite me.

  3. We didn’t get hit at all since our snowfall was last week and haven’t seen much of anything else. I’m out on the road with Hubby and we are in NW Kansas where there is usually a lot of snow and it has been warmer then it was back in Wichita before we came up here. Just cold – no white stuff, thank goodness.

    Yours at least looks pretty.

You know, since I didn’t have to shovel it this time…I do think it’s pretty.
