Even dogs get cabin fever

Neither Patty nor Gavin enjoy trudging through the deep snow outside.  Therefore, they’ve begun to romp inside more than usual with DH and me taking the brunt of their zest.  They run around like maniacs and use us as bumpers when they make turns.  Either that or they leap onto our laps leaving black and blue paw prints behind.

Gavin had quieted down and had stretched out alongside me in my chair.  He likes an afternoon nap.  Patty was still looking for mischief.  First, she poked his paw with her nose as she walked by.  Then she walked past again and nosed his chest.  The third time by she poked him in the nose a couple of times.  I must say Gavin tried mightily to ignore her.

She, who is not to be ignored, wanted to play.  She went and stood by DH’s chair and studied Gavin for a few minutes.  Gavin was trying to doze.  He even faked it by closing his eyes tight.  However, I could feel his body tense as he sensed her scrutiny.

Patty walked past us and went into the kitchen.  A few seconds later, she bounded back into the living room and pounced on both of us.  Gavin shot out of the chair, bully runs and hucklebutts ensued.   I can’t wait until they can burn off some energy outside.

  1. I can attest to that bully energy! Patty and Gavin both jumped on me while I visited back in Dec. Glad it wasn’t at the same time or I wouldn’t be writing this. I might have been crushed under the combined weight of those two…like a pop can, lol.

Imagine our daily interraction with the two of them. 🙄

  2. sort of souhds like my 2 cats only bigger. Some times when PT. is sleeping SPOOKY will sneak up on her & slap PT. up longside the head then run. once SPOOKY sat on her head LOL!!!!

Hehehe! Patty will often jump on my chair when Gavin is in his hand puppet position and she will sit on his butt.

  3. At one insane time of my life I had two Golden Retrievers and a small black cat with a huge sense of humor. One of his favorite stunts was to wait until both dogs were asleep in the middle of the living room floor, then jump down on them. Quick as a wink he’d head back up into the bookcase where he was invisible.

The dogs, not knowing who woke them so rudely blamed each other and the chase around the house would ensue. Almost 200 pounds of dog making a circuit at top speed through four rooms and a hall always was an attention grabber.

ROFLMAO! Cats can be so devilish!

    • Oh they surely are devilish! I had one who would leap from the back of my sofa onto my dog (who, of course, never saw her coming). And what an aim from a distance of about 4 feet!! She always hit her target. And then they would wrestle each other with one on top, the other on the bottom, roll over in a heap switching places, then take turns chasing each other up and down the stairs and in each and every room. They sounded like a stampede, which is a feat in itself considering neither weighed more than 10 pounds, lol.

  4. Reading your site is like living in my house, BT’s are riotous. I’ve rearranged my furniture placement to give them a ‘race course’ because replacing pieces is too expensive.

Regarding MS, a friend of mine is also waging the war and I’ve sent this link to her; http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/8510437.stm It’s an interesting link and the relationship is just now being explored.

I still marvel that after 30 years of having these dogs, the house still stands. 🙂
Thanks for the UK site, I’ll check it out.
