We didn’t win the lottery today
Gosh, darn it. However, we didn’t play it today either. G and I play two lottery games. We each put in $3.00 and she buys the tickets when she’s at the grocery store. She does the buying because she always goes shopping the same day every week like clockwork. I don’t shop until I absolutely have to shop.
The plan is to split our winnings the day we win. (With our luck, everyone and his brother will hit the same day and we’ll make only enough to buy another ticket.) What the heck, we keep playing. We have dreams.
We both dream about new houses. Our plan is to hire a realtor to find us our dream homes within walking distance of each other. Neither of us wants a huge, fancy house but we want comfortable homes. It’s not that our homes aren’t comfortable, but we both have steep stairs to climb, and we aren’t getting any younger.
G dreams of being able to put her grand kids through college. I dream of not having to worry about DH and him climbing stairs. I don’t want to worry if we have enough money to pay for his medications and the bills each month. I dream of taking care of my cousins and aunties. G and I both dream of having our very first new cars. We’ve always had used ones. Compared to many people our dreams are simple.
If you hit the lottery for megabucks, what would you do?

First, I’d make a large donation to my church.
Then my brother-in-law and sister-in-law would find large infusions of cash in their bank accounts. Ditto a few friends who live close to the bone.
I wouldn’t buy a new home, but I’d fix all the things we talked about (but never did) to the house–new bathroom, new flooring, insulated garage, etc.
I’d buy myself a toy–a ’64 Pontiac GTO, A ’68 Hemi RoadRunner, a . . . well, there’s just so many, I don’t know which I’d buy. Maybe 2 or 3 of them.
We’d travel.
I’d treat everyone in my writing group (and a few close friends) to the state wide writer’s conference in Pittsburgh and hire a plane to fly them there.
I’d find a worthy cause or two and support it.
I probably can come up with more, but that’s all that pops into my head right now.
Ah, yes making sure a certain group of friends make it to the writer’s conference is a must! (Adding that to my list) Which reminds me, I have to send my check into PW for this year’s conference in Lancaster.

I would move to Colorado, buy a home in the mountains, get a couple dogs & cats. They each need their own playmates ya know….it’s kinda like having two boys and two girls, lol. I’d travel some, invest a lot, get the car of my dreams and it’s NOT a Toyota!! Donate to charity, give some to son, make a trust fund for the grandkids, pay off bills, go back to school, start my own business again, and the biggie? Fend off all of the “relatives coming out of the woodwork”, lol.
I know I’d have a few of ‘those relatives’ showing up. One reason I’d leave no forwarding address…LOL!
Jennie and I both do the lottery every week and have agreed to share it if we make a big win. We would buy a plot and build eco friendly houses. Make sure that the boys have the best education possible and set up a (private) charity fund which could support some of the small charities who usually get the help to those who need it better than some of the international big charities (Jennie wants to go and dig wells in Africa 🙂
On a selfish note, if we only get a few thousand, we could go on a family cruise to the North Cape in June which covers both Jennie and GGs birthdays!
As for charities, I’d donate to MS and breast cancer research.
