Note to self or What did I mean by that?

You can thank Elena for this post, she posed the question that started it.  I write myself the most fascinating notes.  Wonder if other people write themselves mysterious notes?”

Elena you aren’t the only one who does that.  I often come across some cryptic missive in my handwriting and have no clue what I meant when I wrote it.  Lately I’m finding measurements but for what I have no idea.  Windows?  Doors?  A space for a cabinet?

Don’t get me started on the many Post It’s stuck to manuscript print outs that must’ve made sense at the time.  Does anyone have an idea what ‘OP m to NC’ means?  That was one of the easier ones to decipher.

It’s a good thing DH doesn’t shop for groceries because he’d never figure out the special shorthand I use for my list.  Shr ch, frz sn, sp whl…etc.  When he used to do some shopping, I had to write everything out for him including brand names.

How about you, do you write cryptic notes to yourself and then wonder what the hell you meant?

  1. Did someone named OP need to move to North Carolina?

One of my weirder thoughts was when I found a cryptic entry in my calendar telling me to “make a note”. Of what? To who? Why? I never solved that one.

But shopping in the same store for many years led one of my favorite produce people to ask me why I was staring at the brussel sprouts – something I never buy. I told her I forgot to bring my list and I was trying to “read” it on the counter at home. She looked at me distantly for a moment and said, corn and peas. She was right – I wanted to get frozen corn and peas.

LOL! Out of place move to next chapter…

  2. I write enough of a note to understand it. What I don’t do is write enough regarding phone nos. Later I’ll look at the phone no. and say, “who is that?”, or “why did I write that no. down?” Or even, “which business is this in regard to?” Funny thing is, I write those nos. down and have NEVER used them. Oh well, good intentions gone bad, I guess.

    I’ve done that!
