Wait, he is hurrying as fast as he can

Someone rang our doorbell at eight in the morning yesterday.  Since I’d only gone to bed two hours before that I didn’t hear it.  Most importantly, it seems that people don’t understand that it takes DH some time to get to the door especially if he’s upstairs.  He’s no Speedy Gonzalez, due to his MS the man moves at a turtle’s pace.

By the time DH got to the door, the bell ringer was long gone.  How much sense does it take to realize that we are home when both our cars are in the driveway?  Is patience in such short supply that the person had to rush off?  Nothing ticks DH off more than to rush to the door only to find the person gone.  Mind you, his rushing is similar to a snail on crack but that can’t be helped.

I hate to think I have to post a sign saying, ‘person answering the door is slow…please have patience.’

  1. I’m betting it wasn’t a friend at the door….they’d know. Coulda been a solicitation (unwanted) or a kid (also unwanted). Though why either of those would ring a doorbell at 8am is beyond me. You could borrow a phrase from the PA Dutch…”The faster I go, the behinder I get”….for your front door.

Unfortunately, I think it may have been my meat delivery even though DH had told early Saturday morning was a no.

  2. Seems to me that anyone you’re interested in talking to would already know they have to wait. And if it’s a delivery they’d either wait or leave a form. So, why worry? Though it would be nice to avoid a trip downstairs – hmmmm – do you have a window that will open over the front? You could keep a pot of oil simmering next to it just in case.

    That’d be my bedroom window…

  3. As for a sign, I think if you want one, a sign that says “Day Sleeper” would be safer for the world to read.

    Much better wording than what I would’ve done… 😉

  4. Oops, make that “The hurrier I go, the behinder I get”.

    Yeah, that’s the one.
