Remakes; TV and Movies

Am I the only person who thinks that remakes of TV programs and old movies suck big time?  Why is it when there are tons of talented writers out there that hollywood doesn’t take advantage of their talents?   Instead TV and movie producers do remakes?

Oh, please, is a remake of Charlie’s Angels truly necessary?  It sucked the first time around people!  Am I the only one who thinks that most remakes suck?   Remakes of woefully poor TV shows are worse than remakes of classic films.

Why in the world anyone would remake True Grit is beyond me.  John Wayne movies should never, ever, be subject to a remake, there is no comparison!   I couldn’t watch the remake.

  1. The $imple an$wer to your que$tion i$ greed…plain and $imple….$ome advertizer said they would pony up the money to sponser the debotchery and pay to shove it down the publics throat to try and get their useless product marketed. Hollywood is capital driven….if people objected to and told sponsers they would not finacially support their products the money would stop and so would the garbage and debotchery of classics.

Yes, it always does come down to $$$$.

    • So get off your butt and finish the great suspense novel that they beg you to make into the next fantastic money pit maker and show your shame about recieving all the royalties and them begging you to make another, and another, and another

You know if that house were sold and not weighing so heavy on my mind I bet I could get some writing done…

  2. Plus a re-make of an old concept like Charlie’s Angels or True Grit (no matter how bad or lame) is more likely to succeed than a new idea. There’s less risk of failure (read that losing money) and, as Chuck said, it’s all about the money.
The same applies to sequels. If an idea soars, why not re-make it in every variation you can dream up until the concept dies of its own inertia and staleness. Rocky I – LXI is a prime example. The first one was great, the sequels not so much, and by the time the last one came around, the concept was totally lame!

    I agree!!!
