Whatever happened to entertainment?

I find that this season’s new shows are all a complete disappointment.  The big three networks have fallen on their faces and someone in each network needs to fall on his/her sword.   If only the shows were as good as their trailers looked.

The thing is, I know there’s some fabulous talent out there.  I meet brilliant writers all the time.  Shame on the networks for taking the cheap and lazy way.

I watch TV for entertainment not to watch idiots make asses of themselves–read that as I hate ‘reality shows and dysfunctional celebrity crap.’

I want a good story.  No wonder I spend so much time with my Kindle and computer and so much less time in front of the TV.

  1. I’m sticking with old shows, too. They are a known quantity with (mostly) realistic characters.
Watched one episode of ‘Charlie’s Angels’ and told my wife it wouldn’t last long. Sure enough, the next week the network announced they were going to hell (canceled).
I expecte Pan Am’ to crash any day now, too.
Do watch ‘Person of Interest.’ It’s not bad but will never match up to NCIS or The Mentalist. And ‘Terra Nova’ isn’t bad.
And I agree: the best show on TV can’t touch the quality of a great book.

    Thank goodness for books!!!

  2. Agreed…well said. A bit old fashioned thinking I suppose, but nothing compares to a good book! I love the classic movies as well. Beyond that; nothing beats getting off the couch and living life. I would rather live life than watch someone else on tv live it.

Old fashioned…yeah, well… I’m not a spring chicken although I am progressive enough to read my books on a Kindle a lot…
    I’m working on living too.

  3. Me too! They canceled the only good show around: Men of a Certain Age.

Ticked me off that they canceled Memphis Heat.
