Do you meditate?

I am trying to get the hang of meditating.  For someone like me, it isn’t an easy task.  I do have one lovely guided meditation CD that I’m hoping will work and there’s another on its way to me.   I’ve always had trouble grounding and centering.

I wasn’t raised in a family where  meditation was a daily occurrence.  You took things as they came, put one foot in front of the other, and pushed on.  You didn’t whine and complain.

I’m hoping to ‘get it’ to get that centered, grounded, and relaxed state of balance I so need now.  I felt as though I’d almost made a breakthrough in a yoga class I took a couple of years back but soon afterwards the class ended, the place upped the prices, and I had to stop going.

I have a feeling that if I succeed, I will have the tools to jump-start my creativity.  So I ask you, do you meditate?  Have you been able to find your balance?  Do you have any suggestions?

You all have a good one.

  1. Have you tried doing Yoga at home? you can get some good dvd’s of it nowadays and ones that are geared towards MSers too. They mean you can take it at your own pace and choose the parts that fit into how your body is behaving at the moment.
Meditation is something that you have to find the type that works for you, whether you tense and relax muscles, simply concentrate on areas (this doesn’t work for me as it makes me paranoid) I tend to find building a mental ‘safe place’ where everything that is bothering me is exempt from works, with peaceful music in the background so that the daily noises of my street don’t interfere. xx

I have tried doing yoga at home but miss having an instructor who can tell me what I am doing right or wrong. I heard that it is good for MSers so I’ve tried to get The Curmudgeon to meditate and do some yoga but he won’t. I however, did enjoy a yoga class for a while until it got priced out of my range. I am working with 2 meditation CDs. I don’t have MS, The Curmudgeon does. I need the meditation to relieve my stress as a caregiver.

  2. I tried meditating. Can’t sit still long enough to do any good and emptying your mind in the process??? HA, fat chance. I do find though that T’ai Chi which is a moving meditation works best for me. I also find that Reiki and actually doing massage/shiatsu on a person to be personally meditating, as well.

  3. I didn’t use to meditate, but I have done in the last month 4 meditation sessions online and its a nice feeling
